About the Position
HOLY is scaling fast across markets, channels, and product lines — and data quality, speed, and trust have become a core competitive advantage. As our BI Lead, you will own HOLY’s single source of truth for business data.
You will architect and maintain a reliable, governed analytics foundation across finance, marketing, operations, retail, fulfillment, and inventory. Your work enables executives and teams to steer the business with CM3-level insights and SKU-level performance visibility — and empowers “data champions” across departments to answer questions independently through self-serve and AI-queryable data layers.
Responsibilities:
- Architecture & reliability – Own and evolve HOLY’s unified data infrastructure and core models; migrate critical dashboards and reporting with high reliability and minimal disruption.
- Data quality ownership – Implement validation frameworks, monitoring, and alerting to catch errors before they affect reporting and decisions.
- Omnichannel modeling – Build scalable omni-channel data models spanning customers, orders, products, retail, fulfillment, and inventory, enabling CM3-level and SKU-level analyses.
- Self-serve enablement – Create self-service capabilities, documentation, and guardrails so stakeholders can work independently without breaking standards.
- Governance & standards – Establish and enforce naming conventions, data contracts, and governance rules through working implementations.
- AI-queryable layer – Design and implement semantic / AI-queryable layers that return accurate answers to natural language questions.
- External resource management – Manage external data engineering resources and ensure deliverables meet HOLY’s standards and business needs.
About You
We are looking for a highly autonomous, hands-on BI leader who combines strong data engineering skills with business judgment.
- Hands-on data engineering – 5+ years building production-grade data infrastructure; very strong SQL and data modeling skills; experience with modern ELT/ETL tooling (e.g., dbt, Airflow or similar).
- End-to-end ownership – Able to design and implement business objects (e.g., LTV, CM3, inventory turnover) across staging, transformation, and semantic layers.
- Data quality mindset – Strong testing and validation instincts; takes ownership of production issues until resolved.
- Business-technical translation – Turns ambiguous requests into clear specifications and explains tradeoffs in plain language.
- Strong judgment in ambiguity – Can make architectural decisions balancing short-term needs and long-term scalability.
- Standards enforcer – Builds the “right way” first and aligns others to follow the patterns.
- Fluency in English is a must, German is a plus.
